Photography Approach
Working with Winston Solicitor’s team, we’ve developed a diverse portfolio of headshots and group photographs taken in various rooms of their office. This variety ensures that each image looks unique while maintaining a consistent, professional backdrop that reflects the firm’s values.
For solicitors, balancing professionalism with approachability is key. Family law, for instance, demands a touch of sensitivity, while other areas of practice require a more formal tone. Our photography aims to capture this spectrum with natural, polished imagery.
Recent Photo Shoot: November 2024
Our most recent session on 14th November 2024 highlighted:
- New Starters: We photographed eight new team members in a variety of settings.
- Renovated Reception: This was the first time we used the newly renovated reception area, which provided a lighter, modern background. A sunny day added natural window patterns, enhancing the contemporary look.
- Traditional Meeting Room: The main meeting room, with its classic wooden fireplace and grand mirror, added a timeless feel to the images—a staple for any solicitor’s brand.
Group Shots and Techniques
Creating group shots can be challenging, particularly when working with multiple people. For this shoot, we tried several arrangements:
- Seated and Standing: Initial attempts with two seated and four standing were reviewed live using a laptop connection. This immediate feedback allowed us to adjust the setup.
- Standing Formation: Adopting a “rock band” formation—with staggered positions—delivered a more dynamic look.
Using a tilt-shift lens ensured perfect vertical alignment, avoiding distortion and enhancing the overall composition.
Post-Shoot Process
Leonie’s involvement in real-time selection made the editing process seamless. With the Canon R5’s rating feature, preferred shots were flagged on the spot, ensuring a quick turnaround at McFade HQ.
For the group photo, we used composite editing to achieve the perfect final image. Multiple shots were layered in Photoshop, swapping faces to ensure every team member looked their best. Thanks to our tripod setup, alignment remained consistent, making this process efficient and effective.
Outcome
The result was a fresh set of professional images for Winston Solicitors’ website and marketing materials, capturing their modern yet traditional ethos. Our ongoing relationship ensures their imagery stays updated, relevant, and reflective of their brand.
