Why It Matters

One Good Headshot
Runs Out Quickly

You probably already know your photos need updating — a couple of years old, a haircut that’s different now, a background from an office you’ve since left. You’ve used the best one everywhere it fits, and it’s starting to look tired.

So you book a photographer, take a few shots against a clean background, and come away with forty near-identical images where your expression varies between tense and slightly less tense. That’s not a content library — that’s a headshot with options.

If you only ever need one image on a contact page, updated every few years, a simple headshot session is all you need. But if you’re regularly posting on LinkedIn, speaking at events, appearing in the press, or building any kind of public profile — that handful of near-identical shots runs out within weeks.

The thing that most separates a strong personal branding shoot from a generic one isn’t the camera or the location. It’s direction.

What A Shoot Covers

More Than A Headshot
With Options

01

A Business Headshot That Works

Clean, well-lit, usable anywhere — done with attention to light, expression, and framing, not just the obvious version.

02

Working Context Shots

Images of you thinking, reading, writing, or doing whatever it is you do — more natural, and often more useful for content than a plain background.

03

Variety Across Moods And Formats

Different crops, expressions, and settings — what works on a website header doesn’t always crop for LinkedIn. Range makes content planning easier.

How Long,
And When To Book

A short session works if the brief is genuinely simple. But for a full image library — different looks, settings, crops, moods — a half day gives you the time to do it without rushing. Rushing is the enemy of variety.

The obvious trigger is photos that are clearly out of date. But others matter too — a change in appearance, a shift in positioning (new role, new business, new direction), or simply running out of usable content until every post looks like the same photograph.

About McFade

A Full Image Library,
Not Just A Few Headshots

If any of that sounds familiar — the same tired image everywhere, forty near-identical headshots, running out of content after a few weeks — a properly planned personal branding shoot is probably worth doing.

I’m Ade Wilson, a commercial photographer based in Leeds. I work with consultants, coaches, speakers, fractional leaders, and visible professionals who need a proper image library rather than a few headshots to see them through.

Why McFade

Three Reasons It Works

01

A Real Bank Of Images

Most headshot sessions produce one strong portrait and thirty-eight slight variations of it. A personal branding shoot is planned around how you use your images — so you come away with something you keep using for months, not weeks.

02

Direction That Eases The Awkwardness

Being photographed awkwardly usually just means there was no real direction. The approach here keeps things moving, gives you specific things to do, and works quickly enough that self-consciousness doesn’t get a chance to set in.

03

Flexible Locations, Not Just Studio Walls

Studios produce a controlled, slightly formal look. Most personal branding clients want something more grounded — a working environment, an outdoor space, somewhere with character. Help choosing a location is part of the process.

Client Feedback

“I’d admitted to him that I’d nearly cancelled it because being in the spotlight feels so alien to me. But Adrian was such a pro putting me at ease. The ‘business’ ones are already out in the wild, improving my online business profiles. I’ve had some great comments on them already.”

Gareth Everson — Business Owner and Author

“Ten minutes into a photoshoot with Ade and I’d gone from hating the thought of having my photo taken to having an absolute blast. The result? Photos I’m proud to use to represent me and what I’m all about.”

Laura Barritt — Copywriter and Consultant

“Adrian is simply the best photographer I’ve ever worked with. Being a creative myself I understand the value a great image can add to a project or business, the work Adrian has done for me and my clients has been of the highest quality.”

How It Works

Three Steps
To A Usable Image Library

01

Tell Me What You Need

Get in touch with a rough idea — what you’re using images for, what’s missing, and any sense of the look you want. I’ll suggest the right scope and help work out a practical location.

02

We Plan It And Run The Day Well

Before the shoot, we’ll think through wardrobe, location options, and the scenarios worth covering. On the day I’ll keep things moving, direct you at each point, and work through enough variety that the final set earns its keep.

03

Images You’ll Keep Using

Turnaround depends on the size of the job. I’ll give you a date when we book it, and I’ll stick to it — a varied set of portraits and working shots across LinkedIn, your website, speaking profiles, and articles, without running out quickly.

What You Can Expect

Practical Details

  • Based in Leeds, working across Yorkshire and the North of England — local shoots are straightforward; travel-heavy commissions are assessed individually
  • Established 2010 — commercial photography including personal branding, corporate headshots, and people-focused work
  • Direction throughout — the approach is designed to make camera-shy people comfortable and produce more natural, more usable results
  • Mobile lighting capability — used where it adds shape, separation, or punch; not every location needs it
  • Varied output as standard — a useful image library across different scenarios, not one polished headshot and variations
  • Tethered preview available — where useful, you can see the images as they’re taken
  • Delivery date agreed when you book
  • Broad commercial usage rights included — images can be used across your website, LinkedIn, articles, speaking materials, press, and business marketing
